Find Your Own Way Home

In this game you will play Ruby Easton who works as a reporter for Entertainment Now, a television entertainment show. If her being world biggest fan of REO Speedwagon isn’t weird enough for you then consider the fact that she knows all songs they ever recorded, which versions they played at which shows, moreover she toured extensively with the band and mentions band-members by name.

For those unimpressed I confirm – it’s still a hidden object adventure game. During the game-play you will collect a bunch of useful objects to help solving the puzzles. Each chapter of the game contains hidden object scenes and puzzles. As the story goes, right after Ruby finishes a news piece about the band she discovers a conspicuous absence of lead vocalist of the group.

While the story is not that exciting (at least for me) there is a wide variety of hidden object game modes included in the game. Those include finding hidden objects in a particular order, finding a certain number of like objects or taking pictures of various portions of a scene, etc. That pleasant particularity is a very nice change from overused ways most of hidden object games are done these days.

I liked Find Your Own Way Home more than I thought I would. If you think you’ll stomach a dose of REO Speedwagon fanaticism you’ll enjoy it too.

Luxor Adventures

In Luxor Adventures from Mumbo Jumbo you will join John Swift and Jane Graham as the pair travels through the past to keep history-flow intact and to stop Seth Hisster who tries to change it in order to gain more power.

More details of the story will be presented during animated cut-scene sequences. You will hop from time period to time period each time trying to fish out hidden object that does not belong there.

As usual in a hidden object game you will find items by clicking on them. Said items are listed on the bottom of the screen by name or sometimes there is only a hint. Each level contains one or two puzzles, two orbs and two Ankhs to find. Each level is timed though time is in abundance. There are more than usual hidden objects to find and sometimes they are secreted well enough to turn the game tricky. Use hints if baffled.

Also don’t worry about game-time as you can replay the game a number of times while keeping it enjoyable – different hidden object per scene each time will guarantee quality time. Luxor game pops up every four levels or so which helps to break the routine somewhat. Also available is a number of other mini-games.

Keep in mind that the game is very well done with certain sophistication with special effects and animated sequences, detailed artwork and great music. I truly recommend it!

This is a hybrid from iWin that combines a hidden object quest related to Egyptian lore with classic Jewel Quest gem-swapping. Recently the developers try to entertain us more and combine several genres. In this particular case it worked.

Rupert and Emma will visit Egypt, solve ancient puzzles and reveal a captivating story told in journal entries and sketches. They will be looking for each hidden object in a busy outdoor or indoor scene. Along the left hand-side of the screen the objects you need to locate within the specified period of time are listed. Incorrect clicking gets you penalized – if you click on an incorrect items three times you lose 30 seconds off the clock.

Puzzles and other mini-games are also here. For example, you must swap gems on a board so that at least three have formed a vertical or horizontal row. Doing so will vanish the line and new gems fall down the board.

In contrast to other recent hidden object games when you revisit the scene in search of new items they will be in the same locations as the already found ones. It makes the game a tad too easy for me. Though to be fair it’s a good example of a hidden object game with good graphics and music – just not as good as some of the others I’ve reviewed.

Little Shop – Memories

Little Shop – Memories being the 5-th game in the series continues a good tradition and brings another quality hidden object game.

In this game you are supposed to move to a new store. While cleaning the attic you face a number of memories, each of which is a different hidden object scene. Completing each scene brings you a new keepsake. Number 15 seems to be important in this game – you’ll search 15 attic locations with 4 hidden object memory scenes. Each memory scene has 15 hidden objects for you to find. During the game you’ll return to each of 12 unique memory scenes 5 times, and you’ll get more story detail as you progress. Bonus Polaroid snapshots will go to your scrapbook, so you’ll be able to examine them at a later time.

You won’t get bored as during the gameplay the position of some items and the Find Lists may change. On the other hand, beware of the tricky hint system. The primary hints will show you what the object looks like, but not where it is, which is unusual for this genre but is a kind of Little Shop trademark.

There are 16 mini-games, most of which are hidden object variations. Those are a nice way to keep you entertained. Once you complete the game try Blitz mode when you try to find hidden object as quickly as possible. For adrenaline junkies like me it’s a great bonus!
