After solving the mystery in Veronica Rivers: Portals to the Unknown the foolhardy pilot has no time even for a short vacation. The heroine is having visions during her trip, so she jumps in to an airplane and starts a new case.
Veronica Rivers: The Order of Conspiracy is a second hidden object game with adventure elements.
Those who know the genre will understand the game at once. You have an indoor or outdoor scene with a list of items you need to seek and find on the left of your screen. Sometimes you have to find objects which are absolutely have nothing in common with the scene, but sometimes you really need to find objects which are related to the tale. You might need to find a piece of paper which finishes the map or it might batteries which you need to put in to remote.
Good thing that you don’t have time limit and you always can use a hint to find some well hidden objects. It takes time to regenerate the hint. But if you click wrong many times the cursor splits in to many cursors on the scene and you will have to wait till it becomes single again.
As it was in the first Veronica Rivers game, many hidden object exercises remind of adventure games from 90s. It may be using objects found from one scene in order to accomplish them with task you’re given. For example in some task you will have to make a fire in order to keep yourself warm. So at first you will have to find wooden planks and make up a fireplace. Then you will have to find a candle and put it in to candleholder and then you will have to find a lighter to light the candle.
But sometimes you get confused. For example, I was asked to find a frame. So I clicked on one in which a picture was placed. But the right one was another picture in a frame hanging on another wall.
There are also mini-games between hidden object tasks. They are quite fun, but you can skip them if you want.
In the whole Veronica Rivers quite interesting HOG, but not extraordinary. It’s benefits are good music and graphics and the story is quite interesting too. It’s not one of the best HOGs but the fans of this genre should at least download the free trial.

3 Cards to Dead Time

Jess is in trouble. The guy who killed her parents is trying to do the same with her, she can see ghosts who are talking to her. Besides she’s having visions. She found herself in the center of a mystery which can’t be revealed for 80 years. So she needs to solve it.
We got to know Jess from 3 Cards to Midnight. In this game you had not only find objects but think first. For example, if you have a word “day” you might have to find a sun (Sunday) or a light (daylight).
Each chapter of the game has several locations. And you should be really careful, because you can click wrong only nine times. Otherwise you will have to start all over again. For each object you get points. When you reach a sum of 100 points, you get a hint. The trickier object is to find, the more points for it you get. Besides you have several categories of objects that you need to find. But as I already said, the game requires high attention. You can switch between the categories. But you need to be attentive enough to find proper objects which correspond with necessary category. If you choose an object from another category, it counts as a wrong click and you get less chances to finish. You also have an opportunity to play puzzles in this hidden object game. You can skip them if you want or even replay when ever you wish, but if you skip you get lower overall score for the location. Your skills of logic skills can be tested here.
After each location a new scene opens and tells about the next part of the plot. Events of supernatural character are really interesting. But unfortunately the characters are poorly made.
If you didn’t play 3 Cards to Midnight, it would be pretty hard to get in to the story of 3 Cards to Dead. So it might not catch you up at once or at all. You can skip the scenes and just read the story at the end, but it makes you feel like you’re skipping half of the game and you really are.
In the whole, this game is one of the smartest and unusual among hidden object games.

Veronica River: Portals to the Unknown

This game scenario is not usual for a HOG. You play as a pilot, Veronica, who one day receives an S.O.S. signal from geologists team from Alaska. While she was staying in north pole.
This mission leads her all around the world, using different portals. As you get to know the story of those lost geologists, you have to find many hidden objects in different indoor and outdoor locations. Unlike most hidden object games, all items, that you need to find are always relevant to the story or location. Besides the game hints you to keep found object in your inventory, in order you could use it to solve some puzzle. And you always can use a hint to find some object in some really messy location.
In order to find objects you have not only classical list of objects to search, but you also will have to find objects with the help of silhouette given or you might be asked to take a picture of some scene which you are asked to find. You also will have to use flashlight in order to find objects in the darkened areas. These features are really well done in this game.
Besides, after few levels you will be asked to solve some puzzles. They are pretty easy, but certainly it depends on your skills. From the main menu, you can go to each puzzle and replay it. And the items will be in different places again. This is a good replay feature.
Veronica Rivers: Portals to the Unknown doesn’t differ much from other hidden object games, but it deserves good mark only for everything (from the story to the art) done extremely well.
So it’s one of the genre titles which should be played, at least you should download the trial version.

The Dark Hills of Cherai

There are so many hidden object games which can really impress you, but The Dark Hills of Cherai will certainly do.
The story of the game reminds some kind of a tale in which grandma tells her grandchildren a story about a treasure, a magician and an adventurer. One of the children was so impressed that went off for the treasure and was caught by an evil magician. So other two kids now have to rescue the lost one. If you ever fast-clicked on the story-line in other games, you can do so here with clear conscience. Because it’s not the plot that keeps you glued to the game, but the gameplay. This game includes hidden object scenes, puzzles and mini-games which are very interesting and challenging. The object searches are really well drawn and full of Indian culture.
You get unlimited number of hints which you can use, but they recharge very slow, so you will have to use them wisely. Some objects that you find during the game will be added to your inventory and you might need them solving puzzles and mini-games. Most locations requires at least one object from your inventory.
Sometimes the directions for puzzles and mini-games can be confusing, but you always can just push the Skip button after some goes by.
Sounds like a standard HOG, before you realize that you play with more then 1 character.
Kids can share items from their inventory with each other. Besides you can move between locations as you like. If you find yourself stuck, it means that you have to wait for other kids to find needed items to continue the game. It’s easy to switch between kids, clicking on their image.
A spirit helps you understand when one or another kid is intended to find any item to continue.
So you won’t be confused.
Finally The Dark Hills of Cherai is a good balance between new and familiar in hidden object genre. And if you are tired of hidden object games, even in this case you should try this one.
